With wandering, carefree sheep on its fairways and in its rough, Fort Augustus is the archetypal unspoilt Highland golf course. Frankly, it couldn't be anymore more than one of the most natural layouts in the north. It boasts nine greens with 18 different tees that offer various lengths and challenges on every hole.

Set between the Caledonian Pins on the banks of the Caledonian Canal, with bounding hills providing the backdrop, this is a wonderful setting for a heathland golf course. The opening hole is as perilous a hole as you are ever likely to see - a wonderful start to your round.
