Torvean holds the title of being the only municipal golf course in the Highlands. Thanks to an extension in the late eighties it became an 18 hole layout and has been welcoming hoards of enthusiastic golfers ever since. A number of water hazards come into play and the Caledonian Canal runs adjacent to one side of the course. It is also home to one of the longest par fives in the north, the fifth hole at 565 yards. A par three at 164 yards with a pond below the green, the penultimate hole has scuppered many a good score. |
