Golf in England

The largest of the four ‘Home Nations’, England caters easily for holidaymakers of all pockets and persuasions. Indeed, rarely before – if ever – has the term ‘something for everyone’ been quite so apt as when describing England.
Whether you like the city lights, rural towns and villages, lazing under the sun on a golden beach, climbing dramatic peaks or enjoying beautiful, picturesque countryside, England has every base covered and every box ticked.

One of the star attractions is, of course, London. The capital of the United Kingdom is everything you’d expect a capital city to be: vibrant, cosmopolitan, lively and dynamic. Some of the country’s most famous landmarks are found here too, namely Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and 10 Downing Street.

Other major cities include Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield, each offering a similar atmosphere to London, only on a slighter smaller scale and with their own little quirks and local habits thrown in to make unique cultural experiences wherever you go.

Those who enjoy the countryside, meantime, are equally as spoiled for choice. Naturally, the Lake District attracts a lot of attention – not to mention tourists – and quite rightly so. Found within Cumbria in the north of the country, it is one of 14 national parks in England and, interestingly, all of the English land which climbs to more than 3,000-feet above sea-level is contained within the park. Its most famous lakes, including Ullswater and Windermere, enjoy beautiful summer weather and attract holidaymakers of all shapes and sizes.

Beach lovers will find that the south-west coast is a terrific and more affordable alternative to the likes of the Costa del Sol and the Algarve. Indeed, it is in and around Devon and so on that you will uncover the English Riviera and its magnificent summertime temperatures. Indeed, thermometers there regularly reach the same humid heights as those in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey.
And so what of golf?

Well, with hundred upon hundreds of courses to pick from, you won’t ever find yourself short on choice, that’s for certain. The sport is a big part of local and national fabrics in the country and so there are plenty courses for you to pick from no matter where you choose to base yourself. North, South, East, West and Central, there are great courses galore all around England – so, enjoy!
