Golf in Normandy

Advertisers

With Calais, Dieppe, Caen, Le Harve or Cherbourg all providing access routes to this beautiful part of France, there's little or no excuse not to come and see what Normandy has to offer the travelling golfer.

A popular tourist retreat in itself, Normandy provides golfers with a wonderful insight into why France has grown at an astounding rate as a top European golfing destination.

Not only that but Normandy is home to one of France's most talked about golf courses, Le Champ de Bataille. This is a truly wonderful test that has been compared on an almost routine-like basis to that of Wentworth. A magnificent French country Chateau forms the backdrop to your round, as do mammoth trees that line most of the fairways and nestle behind huge greens.

Omaha Beach golf course is located near the famous Normandy WW2 landing beaches near the town of Bayeaux. It is a unique course in that you get to choose between three loops of nine, with each offering a wonderful test of golf and superb sea views.

San Julien is another impressive course that can stretch to nearly 7, 000 yards if need be. It is located in over 200 acres of outstanding countryside, giving you the feeling that you are enjoying your golf alone. This course, along with the Champ de Bataille layout, is one of Normandy's most popular hideouts.

But we have saved the best for last. Rated amongst France's top 25 best courses, Etretat golf course is situated on the chalky cliffs of the Alabaster coast, above the famous Aval cliff that has been eroded into an arch and compared to an elephant dipping it's trunk into the sea. Its test is as beautiful and monumental as it is memorable and is simply a must on your trip to Normandy.
