Golf in Pas de Calais

Advertisers

The Pas de Calais region is in the North of France and it is, surprisingly, the most popular region for travelling British golfers, brushing aside the likes of Brittany and Normandy with consummate ease. Its popularity, of course, is due mainly to location, with the port of Calais and Eurotunnel providing ease of access at all times.

So, just a quick nip across the water from the south of England and you are presented with a wonderful array of teasing courses, coupled with a wide variety of accommodation to suit of travelling parties. Your golfing group can choose from secluded guesthouses situated away from all the action to centrally located hotels -from two-star to five star - right in the heart of the action.

There are over ten courses to enjoy in the region, from nine-hole retreats to full-on championship standard tests. Two of the best on offer are the town courses at Hardelot and Le Touquet, both 36-hole challenges.

Both the Hardelot courses are superb and mender through avenues of pine trees with various water hazards creeping in along the way. The Le Touquet resort provides two distinctly different challenges in that one is a links and the other a more parkland design.

Both towns offer rich pickings for golfers, as there are a myriad of golfing hotels dotted in and around the outskirts in addition to the glut of golfer-friendly bars and restaurants.

Other courses to sample include the US-style St Omer and Wimereux courses. Others worth a visit include Arras, Belle Dune and Dunkirk. Tour operators on the side of this page will be able to get your tee times and accommodation at a good rate.
