Royal Troon's Old Course is one of the finest links courses in the world and will once again host the Open Championship next year, yet it's slightly shorter neighbour, Troon Portland, is also worth a look.

Unfairly overshadowed by its bigger brother, Portland is a genuine links course and very similar in style to the Old, although it's a little shorter and more forgiving. A major plus point is that it remains in excellent condition throughout the year.
